Bumar organized a conference on the topic of the “Polish Shield”

On the 29 November 2009, in cooperation with National Defense University and Military University of Technology, and at the support of the Air Forces Command, who rendered their auditorium for this event, Bumar organized a conference on the issue of the "Polish Shield". The conference was directed at the armed forces and people connected with defense industry.

The conference concerning the offer of Bumar attracted many representatives of the air forces, land forces, and experts concerned with the issue of air defense and journalists interested in the issue of the "Polish Shield". The conference was hosted by Marek Borejko from Radwar, responsible for the project under construction - the "Polish Shield". During the conference, the participants could listen to reports and see the following presentations:

by Lt Col dr. Adam Radomyski from the NDU on the topic of the significance and objectives of air defense in military actions other than war

Lt Col dr. eng. Karol Sienicki from the MUT on the topic of  the evaluation of threats and characteristics of short range systems

dr. eng. Bogdan Zygmunt, a professor of MUT on the topic of the Polish air defense system

From the side of Bumar, the concept of multi-layered system of antiaircraft and anti-missile defense system for Poland was presented by dr. Wiesław Jędrzejewski.

As a result of cooperation, companies BUMAR, RADWAR, PIT and the MBDA concern, are working on the shield. The project assumes the creation of a national, multi-layered system of antiaircraft and anti-missile defense for Poland - the "Polish Shield". The proposal of Bumar is something of the sort of "protective umbrella" consisting on three layers:

Medium Range Air Defense MRAD basing on ASTER 30 missiles able to combat tactical and operational ballistic missiles, created in cooperation with MBDA,

Short Range Air Defense SHORAD basing on MICA VL missiles, created in cooperation with MBDA,

Very Short Range Air Defense VSHORAD, created and manufactured exclusively by the Polish military industry.
